Mining Guide OSRS
Extracting ores from the rocks of Gielinor.
Mining is a classic gathering skill. It complements Smithing well, though most players sell the ore.
Motherlode Mine (MLM)
Unlocked at level 30 (Falador). It is semi-AFK. Save your Golden Nuggets for the Coal Bag (vital for Blast Furnace) and Prospector Kit (Diary requirement).
Fastest XP
- Iron Ore (Level 15+): Power-mining iron in the Mining Guild (level 60+) is nearly 70k XP/hr.
- Volcanic Mine (Level 50+): Located on Fossil Island. Very good XP/hr and less click-intensive than power mining if played efficiently.
Frequently Asked Questions
What pickaxe should I use?
Always use the best you can wield. Dragon Pickaxe (level 61) has a special attack that boosts mining by +3. Crystal Pickaxe (level 71) is best in slot.
Is Amethyst worth it?
At level 92, Amethyst is incredibly AFK and decent profit, though XP is slow (20k/hr). Ideally meant for alt accounts or mobile play.
